Special Hands-on Design Workshops

Held at the Science Centre Singapore from 24-27 May 2010, and conducted by guest instructor, Dr Stuart Kohlhagen, the Special Hands-on Design Workshops are a fantastic opportunity for ASXC participants to gain specific insights to what makes interactive exhibits successful.

In these workshops, real examples of how to translate a physical phenomenon into an engaging and entertaining physical exhibit will be demonstrated. Participants will also have the chance to construct a simple exhibit that they’ll be able to take home.

About the Instructor

Dr Stuart Kohlhagen

Dr Kohlhagen is one of the founding members of Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre in Australia, and has been involved in developing interactive exhibits and science shows for over 30 years. During this time, he has also been a key facilitator in various exhibit design workshops for the international science community, and has led the development of well over 1,000 novel, interactive exhibits.

Dr Kohlhagen’s love for science, physical phenomena, and helping people connect with these wonders has led him to be awarded with a Queen’s Birthday Award (public service medal).

He currently manages Questacon’s research and development section.
